Got a screw loose?

A quick hack for those that have a screw that loosens constantly on your grooming scissors of this type

It is exceedingly annoying when this type of screw constantly backs off as the scissors become loose and they won’t cut and they will rattle

What todo is to set the tension correctly by tighting the central screw until the tension is to your preference.

If they don’t cut when tight it might be that they are blunt

Once you have them set then reach into the make-up bag and grab the nail varnish

Put a wee blob of nail varnish on the back of the screw and let it dry

This will lock the screw into position.

It won’t be very tight but it will be tight enough

And it also shows when the screw has moved

This technique isn’t unique to scissors it is an old habit from engineerng where you would do the same on the adjustment screws of a steam turbine governmer, Where if it went wrong the turbine would go bang in a a very spectacular manner
