Ssshhhh you’ve found the secret barras cages page

Well is not that secret I did put a link to it

A side business born from my skills as a fabricator which have been seen by others in the dog world leading to a few commissions for cages in a dog van.

I don’t just make dog cages I also make gates for around our house ranging from the simple ones for inside the house and office to the more outlandish railings outside.

I make rasied feeders to your size from the huge to the not quite as huge. Having Danes means everything is size plus

I am going to keep this as a side business so I am going to be picky about what I take on but I intend to make a finished product which is perfect for your needs.

As this is a side line i’m quite happy to list a few others in Scotland that do dog cages that i know of

Not far from me in Stonehaven there is Bespoke Steel Worx in Stonehaven

near Arbroath there is Trystorme with the worlds oldest website

Further south again in Glenrothes there is Metals magic

In Cumbernauld there is Glentore fabrications

And near Glasgow there is Vic Air

If you know of any i’ve missed in Scotland then drop me a line

VW caddy Mk1

The first van conversion i carried out. We purchased this van from a friend who used to take their Great danes around. It had some cages already but they were made from wood and screws. I binned them out

There was somewhat of a time pressure on this build as we got the van a few days before it was going to be used for taking 2 dogs down a show. Made mostly from odds and sods I had lying around.

It served us very well with it letting us take our two dogs on a holiday as well as to many many shows down south with 2 great danes

No pictures of the build and not many pictures of the end results

The dog on the left is Poly (short for polycell) We got her at the start of lockdown and we went for a puppy play date with her brothers and sisters. Whilst we were there one of the other owners was asking about dog cages. I said it was something i could do.

Little did i know what i was walking into. Lets just say it turned out to be less than simple

The solution is here

After seeing the two sets of cages I made for customers my darling wife was questioning why her cages weren’t quite as nice for out TWO great danes.

In an effort to make it as nice as possible i went all in and stripped the back of the van out completely and added a full carpet lining, electric vent fan, escape doors, better locks and a eye catching colour scheme.

It has TWO large cages so one dog can travel in the front cage and the 2nd dog can travel in the back.

There is another two much smaller cages which are sized to allow the soft crate which is used at dog shows to be put in the bttom cage with other stuff going next to it with a good sized space above it for stuff.

I think the end solution is perfect for TWO great danes

See that pup enjoying the sun?
